TheNation exposes fake encounter to save Islamabad IGP

The respected national English newspaper TheNation reported today that the gunning down of a suspected suicide bomber by Capital police on Sunday night was actually a fake police encounter and was engineered to establish good repute of the cops.

This report is the latest one of a series of scoops the paper have recently done – after the induction of Ms Shireen Mazari as its Editor. Mazari left The News after a decade of stint as its Columnist. According to reports, Mazari and the News had fallout – according to some – engineered by invisible hands after she wrote against the intrusive nature of American presence in the country.

According to the story, Islamabad police high-ups, after the incident, had claimed to have saved the Capitalfrom another devastating terrorist attack.

The sources privy to the developments informed the paper that the deceased, a suspected suicide bomber as claimed by the police, had been in the police custody for the last couple of days and was made a scapegoat only to defuse the prevailing impression that the Capital Police were incapable to prevent terrorist attacks.

The sources claimed that the deceased was arrested some days ago in a police raid at a house in the outskirts of the Capital during a routine search operation.

The sources also disclosed that it might be possible that the deceased was involved in some terrorist activity or was a potential suicide bomber but he was under police detention when he was shot dead in a fake encounter.

The sources also informed that there was immense pressure on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Kaleem Imam, from higher authorities after the three consecutive terrorist attacks on senior Army officials in the vicinity of the Capital.
